Life gets in the way

Those of you who write, I know you’ve been there. There are times in your life when all you want to do is write. I’m there right now. Wyrd House, my romance novel that I’m posting here on my blog, is going great. I’m on a roll, and it’s at a point where the words just come flying out of my head.
Then it happens. Stupid life, getting in the way of what I want to do.
I work with at risk kids. It’s very rewarding and also very very stressful. My two best coworkers are about to leave for other jobs, and not only will I miss them personally, my job is about to get even harder. I love my day job, but somedays I come home, stressed out, and my brain is so full I can’t write a word.
As if that wasn’t enough, my fiance isn’t working at the moment, and I’ve had some sort of tummy bug for the last week. More stress! It’s Sunday, and I wish I could write, but this is the day of the week where I go up to see my parents and help out. My folks are getting older, and they need a little help with shopping and such. Don’t get me wrong, I love to go visit them. But some weeks, it’s just one more thing I have yo do instead of write. Just as the big fun birthday party at the bowling alley yesterday was also one more thing in the way of writing, even though I had a great time.
On top of all of that, since he isn’t working as much, Brian has a lot more time at home. When he was working 6 days a week, I barely saw him. Now we are enjoying getting to spend more time together, and that’s also getting in the way of my writing, even though I love it.
Those of you who are lucky enough to have writing be your job, remember to appreciate it. I would so love to be in your shoes! I know that you must have a whole slew of other sorts of problems, but I would love to try that for a change!
For those of you in the same boat as me, don’t give up! Whatever time you find to write, use it! It isn’t a race, after all. Sure, I wish I could take advantage of the fact that I’m in a place where the words are pouring out at warp speed, but I’ll get it written, even if my life makes it take longer.
Keep writing!

I hear you. Having to work to pay bills is necessary, yet it’s so hard to get the writing muse back when you’re exhausted. Work, cook, do laundry, pay bills, read email, and then write romance words before falling asleep. yup….
