Wyrd House update and writing news

So far, March has brought sun, warmth, rain, cold, and snow to my neck of the woods. Oh, the joy of living in the Ohio River Valley! Crappy weather has me indoors, dealing with some mundane life issues and doing some writing as well.

Das Krakenhaus Publishing’s The End Of The World as we know it is going into production, and should be available before too long. That’s where my short story, Winter, is being published.

Last weekend I wrote a short story called Jinky that is based on my supernatural thriller, Ghost in the Park. It has been submitted to an epublisher that puts out regular short story anthologies. They pay too! I’m waiting to hear if it’s been accepted before I think about whether I want to submit it anywhere else. I like the publisher, and while they don’t pay much, they’re my first pick. I’m trying to be patient while I wait to hear from them, which could take a month or two. I hate being patient!

Ghost in the Park is still being pitched to agents. But it’s a slow, slow process. I was sitting here today, wishing I could go to the Thriller Fest in NY this summer. They have a afternoon that’s like speed dating, only for writer’s to pitch their books to agents. Wish I could, but NY is far away and expensive. While I’d love to take the trip, I just don’t have the money.

I’m considering expanding my super short, Descending, into a proper short story. It didn’t make the first cut in the cliffhanger contest, and after reading the stories that did, I think I should stick to contests that are not based on author popularity, but on the writing itself. I still might lose, I’ll just understand it better. Seriously, one of those stories wasn’t even a cliffhanger, and that’s what the contest was about. Don’t get me wrong, a few of the stories I read were worth it. Just not all of them.

But what about Wyrd House? (You seem to ask.) Never fear, I haven’t forgotten to work on my paranormal romance. Chapter Nine has been written and is posted here: Wyrd House 9

Have a wonderful day, and remember that what you read is not nearly as important as that you are reading!
